Here's what you can expect to see at Roger Williams Park Zoo today,
as we work to build the Roger Williams Park Zoo of tomorrow...
This is an exciting time of transformation for the Zoo as we continue to make progress on our Master Plan to update our key exhibits and enhance the Zoo experience for our guests.
Our new restaurants and gift shops are open, and we are finishing up construction of an addition on the Wilderness Café in the upper Zoo plaza. This will provide year-round indoor seating.
We are building our new veterinary hospital in its site adjacent to the Wetlands Trail and beginning construction of the "Hasbro'szOur Big Backyard” children’s zoo on the other side of the pond. The Trail will remain open during this construction although one of the two entrance/exits may need to be closed at times (meaning visitors will need to exit the same way they entered). We expect the veterinary hospital to open in December 2010, and Our Big Backyard in early 2012.
