New for 2009!
Family Walkabouts (ages 9-12 with adult)
Members $25/person; Non-members $30/person
This year we will be providing more opportunities for families to explore local environments without having to worry about finances or taking a week out of work. Instead of a week-long family camp we will be offering five individual day camps with five different themes. In this new format you may still register for all five Family Walkabouts, but you may also register for one, two, three or four!
Families with children ages 9-12 will meet zoo educators at different locations each day and discover how you don’t have to travel far to get “lost” in nature.
Day 1: 08/10 Parker Woodland - Native American studies, edible/medicinal plant walk, and a
variety of nature based activities to appreciate the beauty of the forest.
Day 2: 08/11 Pulaski Park - Collect and release fresh water macro-invertebrates, monitor local frog
populations, and look for evidence of wildlife found in and around ponds
Day 3: 08/12 Galilee and Point Judith - Study the wildlife found in mud flats while playing “salty
bingo”. Learn about the Point Judith light house and walk a section of the historic
Harbor of Refuge seawall
Day 4: 08/13 Fort Wetherill - Explore the fort while learning about its history, take a cliff walk, and
explore the hidden coves with masks and snorkels
Day 5: 08/14 Zoo Enrichment Day - Find out what animal enrichment is all about. Study animal
behavior and build enrichment devices for zoo animals to use.
Registration Information:
**Please note that each participating adult and child must be registered individually as a camper.

ZooCamp 2009 - Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When can I register for ZooCamp?
A: Online registration will open for all camps at 9:00 AM on Saturday, January 24th at http://www.rwpzoo.org/education/Zoocamp.cfm.
Q: What if I don’t have access to a computer?
A: You are strongly urged to use the online method to register for camp as it will give you immediate knowledge of registration status and the greatest likelihood of getting the weeks you desire.
However, there will be a minimal amount of slots held for mail-in registrations.
Please print a registration form and camper personal and medical information form for each camper. Both forms must be mailed in together.
Confirmation letters will be mailed; no confirmations will be given over the phone for the mail-ins. **Any registrations brought in before January 24th will be processed with mail-ins.
Q: What do I need to register online?
A: You will need a credit card and an email address to make full payment through Verisign before receiving confirmation and important information about camp. Please have all your contact information and membership (or confirmation) number on hand.
Q: Is there a maximum number of registrations per person?
A: There is no maximum number of registrations per person; however it is highly recommended that you do not try to register more than a few children at a time as you run the risk of not getting all of them into the same week. It is also suggested to register for ZCOTM or Tadpole Academy first as they have a more limited number of spots.
Q: Can I register someone else’s child?
A: We advise against this! If you add another child to your registration, you will be listed as the child’s parent(there is NO way to change this)! You will then be responsible for all medical and personal information and you will receive all e-mails.
Q: Can I pay a deposit to hold camp spots?
A: No, you must pay in full at the time of your registration.
Q: What if the week I want is full?
A: Should the week you want be full, please MAIL-IN a registration form (print from online link or request via phone) WITHOUT payment to be added to the waitlist. You will be contacted should a space open.
Q: Who makes up the ZooCamp Staff?
A: The ZooCamp staff consists of counselors of college age or older, assisted by counselors-in-training ages 14-17. ZooCamp staff is under the supervision of the Camp Director, Jen Karow. To ensure high quality supervision, the camper-to-staff ratio is 6:1 or better. ZooCamp on the Move is supervised and lead by Early Childhood Coordinator/ZCOTM Camp Director, Chris Hitchener. Camper-to-staff ratio for this camp is 5:1or better.
Q: What if I need to pick up my child late?
A: Most ZooCamps offer after camp care to meet the needs of working parents at a cost of $10/day per child. “Extended Day” is available from the time camp ends until 5:00 PM.
**Parents must inform camp staff at check-in if their child(ren) will be staying for Extended Day.
Q: Can I get my money back if I change my mind between registration time and the actual camp dates?
A: Complete refunds minus a $25.00 processing fee will be given up to February 6, 2009 for Winter Camp, April 1, 2009 for Spring Camp, and June 1, 2009 for Summer Adventures, Tadpole Academy, Natural Navigators, Family Walkabouts and Edventurous Travels. Absolutely no refunds after those dates.
Q: What if I have other questions that aren't answered here, or I experience technical difficulties during my online registration?
A: Should you have any questions about camps or the online registration process, you may call the Camp Director, Jennifer Karow, at 401-785-3510 ext. 352 or e-mail jkarow@rwpzoo.org.
Thank you in advance for your patience with this system; it is our goal to make your ZooCamp registration experience as easy as possible.
