Roger Williams Park Zoo Welcomes Jan Mariani as

New Director of Marketing and Public Relations

Providence, RI – Roger Williams Park Zoo and the Rhode Island Zoological Society have recently welcomed Jan Mariani as the Zoo’s new Director of Marketing and Public Relations.

A communications professional with over 15 years’ experience, Mariani most recently served as Executive Vice President, Communications Director at United Way of Rhode Island, where she played a key role in organizational strategic planning and management of external and internal communications initiatives.

“Jan Mariani’s experience, abilities and knowledge of the community could not be better suited for the Zoo and Society at this time,” commented Jack Mulvena, Executive Director of Rhode Island Zoological Society and Roger Williams Park Zoo. “We’re in the midst of an exciting $35 million improvement plan at the Zoo and we must ensure that our marketing initiatives, public relations outreach and communications with both external and internal stakeholders comprehensively support that improvement plan.”

Mariani, who resides in Bristol, RI, is a member of the Rhode Island chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and has served in leadership capacities for community organizations including Trustee for The Providence Singers and President of her local Parent Teachers Organization. She also currently mentors for the Big Sisters of Rhode Island.

Roger Williams Park Zoo is operated and maintained by the Rhode Island Zoological Society and is owned by the City of Providence.
